Girlguiding enjoys an excellent reputation for providing a safe environment for its members to enjoy activities whether indoors or outside. All Leaders and those who have unsupervised access to the girls and young women are asked to agree to a check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). In addition new volunteers are asked to provide personal references and agree to abide to Girlguiding Safe from Harm policy. All Girlguiding activities are covered by appropriate Liability Insurance and Leaders have been trained in basic First Aid.

All Leaders and Unit Helpers are Volunteers. Leaders have completed a Girlguiding Leadership qualification to help them develop the knowledge and skills to make a positive contribution to running the Unit.

Guiding Units charge 'subs' to cover costs like equipment and the hire of the meeting place. These may be paid weekly, monthly or each term. For most Units work out at less than £3 per week so represent excellent value for money! For events like camps, holidays and adventure holidays an extra charge is usually made. Your daughter will also need a uniform at some stage and your Leader will advise exactly what is required.
